What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy deals with water, heat & cold based therapies.  My favorite recommendation for my clients, who I believe need hydro treatments, is an alternation of cold and hot.

1st - use a cold compress on the area of question (like a freezer gel pack) for about 2-3 minutes.

2nd - replace the cold compress with a hot wet towel for about 2-3 minutes.

Do this alternation between 3-5 times (or as needed).

Explanation of the treatment: the cold compress will reduce any inflamation that may occur on the effected area.  The heat will loosen the muscles of the area, lessening the stress and reducing pain.  Normally, it is good to start and end with cold.
